Lake Pauline is a peaceful oasis in northern Effingham, located between St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Chicago.

St. Louis is the closest at 100 miles away, there you will have advantages of the St. Louis Lambert International Airport, Kindred Hospital, and city attractions.

Effingham has a great variety of conveniences, including restaurants, hotels, shops, St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, a train station, and more.

Lake Activities

Kayakers and canoers adore the glassy waters of Lake Pauline. The lake’s five miles per hour speed limit ensures calm waters for all lake goers.

The lake is also popular with fishers, they challenge the lake’s population of crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, and bluegill. Bass boats and other motorized craft are allowed as long as they respect the speed limit.

Camp Lakewood is a great campground on the north side of Lake Pauline. It is a fantastic camping establishment offering RV sites, cottages, cabins, cable, WiFi, camp stores, community grill sites, and more.

Big-City Fun

Saint Louis Zoo, Forest Park, Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, or The Butterfly House are some of St. Louis’s top attractions.

In Chicago, you will have access to some of Lake Michigan’s best beaches, along with attractions like Millennium Park, Willis Tower, Navy Pier, The Art Institute of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo, or Skydeck Chicago.
